For the first week of this year's maths class, we did a week of inspirational maths where we focused of the learning and brain growth that we experience when we attempt to solve problems. We watched a series of informational videos about brain growth and the importance of making mistakes. We then attempted a math problem, first individually, and then as a group. The fist problem we did was called tiling a rectangle, and in this problem we had to come up with a solution to fill an 11x13 rectangle with as few squares as possible. Problem two was squares and stairs, where we explored different visualizations of patterns.
