The Path and the Pendulum
Swaying grasses ripple across like rain
Lilting breezes dance across the water
Keeping our course would prove us our own bane
Such beauty deserves a better author
-
It’s carefree waltzing through the riverbed
The dredging droll of a babbling brook
Unknown the stream carries trash from it’s head
To suffocate all who escape the hook
-
But, all is not lost for there is a chance
That we can change our belligerent ways
and restore mother nature’s vast expanse
And ensure for our future that she stays
However long we must traverse this path
We must be prepared for the aftermath
Swaying grasses ripple across like rain
Lilting breezes dance across the water
Keeping our course would prove us our own bane

- In this project I learned what a sonnet is and how ther are different types of sonnets. I also learned why they are formatted in a certain way is so that when read they convey a certain kind of emotion or tempo.
- In my sonnet I wrote about the way nature is and how it is dying in part due to the lack of appreciation for its fleetingness
- (6) I think that it could have been better, in all honesty I don't like the title. I just picked it because we needed a title with alliteration but I think it detracts a bit from the poem.
